![]() ![]() I don't think either has the full measure of leading men of a bygone era, but I can see how they might be trying. I think (and hopefully it won't offend anyone that I'm actually expressing my own opinion) that that's a very good way to put it and dovetails with what I originally said about imitating Cary Grant. ![]() But it wouldn't be a stretch to say Pierce or Clooney didn't get some inspiration from the golden age. I'd certainly agree that Pierce or Clooney are nowhere NEAR or ever will be the icons that were Grant, Niven, Gable, Peck, Flynn, or Power. That woould have been rare for David Niven,or Cary Grant. It would be rare for him to be seen, say on Kimmel or Leno, sporting jeans and a hoodie. However, seeing him in usually dressed up in smart tailoring as Bond or in interviews promoting his films, he does bring a class that existed in the golden age. He's especially '80's on Remington Steele. Looking at something like LIVE WIRE or DANTE'S PEAK Pierce certainly has an '80's - '90's quality. If you can't handle that, then ignore my posts because I don't need your permission or approval nor will ever seek it. Like I said, you may not see it, and that's fine, but I'll feel free to express any point of view I want. you're telling me I can't have or express my own points of view? And if I disagree with someone else's, that somehow mine are supposed to become malleable to theirs or I'm being "extremely elevated and indisuptable"? I'd love to read about your qualifications and credentials that makes you an authority on the matter. As I said, it's subjective, though it seems in your own mind your views and opinions on this matter as well as many others, are extremely elevated and indisputable.that is what's truly laughable. Oh yeah, Brosnan or Clooney will actually attempt gene replacement therapy from Cary Grant's DNA if this statement sounds absurd, it's what you are saying and quite a leap from what was originally said about Brosnan's looks fitting in the golden age of 1940's actors. That doesn't mean they can't be dressed up in period clothing or given period hairstyles, but in the same way Natalie Portman or Winona Ryder will never be Audrey Hepburn, Brosnan and Clooney will never be Cary Grant, Tyrone Power, or Gregory Peck. You may not see it, and that's fine, but their features and demeanor just aren't up to snuff. The differences may seem subtle, but Brosnan and Clooney simply don't have the look for the era. ![]()
